Tested: Organic lip balm

Lip balm. A product I’m using like, FOR-E-VER! Sounds familiar? I bet you had that well known blue stick in your bag, at least once in your life. Now, as you might already know, I’m all for organic products. So I was pleased to be asked by the Organic Living Company to review three of their lip balms from Essante, which they offer in their webshop.

A range of lip balms with herbs and fruits

The complete lip balm range exists of seven flavors from fruits and/or herbs: Mango Madness, Nourish Mint, Pomegranate Paradise, Raspberry Burst, Root Beer Float, Strawberry Kiss and Vanilla Bean.

I tried and tested three of them. Nourish Mint, Strawberry Kiss and Vanilla Bean.

When doing some research I was happy to read on Essante’s website that these lip balms contain NO Petroleum, NO Parabens, NO Toxic SPF Sunscreen, NO Dimethicone, NO Salicylic Acid, NO Artificial Colors, NO Artificial Flavors, NO Artificial Fragrance. And they are USDA certified.

My experience

For five weeks, I have used the lip balms daily. The Nourish Mint is very nice to use in the morning. The minty flavor works as an aromatic wake-me-up. I used the Vanilla Bean before going to bed. What I like is the more relaxed character, it has a nice smell to unwind with and fall asleep.
I haven’t used the Strawberry Kiss as much as the other two flavors, only for some touch-ups during the daytime, but that’s mostly because I just don’t like strawberry flavored things. Like for instance, I’m a big, big ice cream lover… but you’re not going to make me very excited offering me a scoop of strawberry ice cream.
That said, all three lip balms felt really natural to me. They didn’t “taste” very chemical as some other brands do.

Besides flavor, I can say that the lip balms make your lips very soft. Comparing to other balms, that just put a layer of balm on your lips and therefore won’t hold that long,…this balm from Essante also penetrates your skin, because of her 100% organic ingredients. The product lasts long and works well to hydrate, protect and moisturize your lips perfectly. It doesn’t give your lips any color, but I personally like the clear look.

Ingredients of Net Wt. .15oz lip balm

Every lip balm contains extra virgin olive oil with SPF qualities and in addition, they each have their own ingredients:

Nourish Mint
Sunflower oil, beeswax, peppermint oil, hemp seed oil, spearmint oil, vitamin E non-GMO.

Vanilla Bean
Sunflower oil, beeswax, natural flavor, hemp seed oil, vitamin E non-GMO.

Strawberry Kiss
Sunflower oil, beeswax, natural strawberry flavor, hemp seed oil, vitamin E non-GMO.

I’m positive to keep using them and the lip balms are a good addition to my hair and skin products as I’m only using 100% natural and organic products. So, if you are looking for a natural way to hydrate and moisturize your lips, then certainly give these lip balms a try!

  1. More and more I use organic products. And now, when it comes to colder weather, lip balm is something that everyday uses. Thank you for your recommendation.
